The boysenberry, cherry, and baking spice flavors are refined and integrated as a result of this wines extended ageing period. On the palate you will notice a similar rich and silky body to our Campus Oaks OVZ, but with a much longer finish. The wine has a slight amount of residual sugar, whose sweetness boosts the fruit flavors in the mouth and on the finish.
Made from the same grapes as our Campus Oaks Old Vine Zinfandel, this wine has many similarities to our flagship. The main difference is that our Gnekow Family Winery line of products have been aged an additional two years in neutral oak barrels. This extended ageing softens the palate of the wine and allows complex flavors to develop as oxygen slowly penetrates the barrels and works it's magic on the wine. The result being that the oak is less pronounced and the fruit flavors and aromas are more apparent. The final step to this wine is a careful blending with a very slight amount of Syrah and Petite Sirah to give the wine a little more depth and some residual sweetness.
